Most people who know me, know that for the most part, I am not very sentimental... at all. And I don't remember those important dates that girls do. Like when Jake and I went on our first date, he remembers. I don't. Most girls would have this information tattooed to their brains. I, unfortunately, do not have this gene. Maybe it will develop as I grow older. Not only that, but I hate surprises. I don't like being told that something is going to happen but I can't know what it is. I blame it on my being a Taurus that I am impatient and curious. However, Jake does remember these things. Not only that, but he loves to surprise me. That should be me, isn't that how girls are?
Three days ago, Tuesday, I was on my way home from working at Surfin' Tacos making gourmet burritos, quesadillas, and scooping sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole for sun burnt tourists. I was telling Jake on the phone about the Polynesian girls that I work with who are mostly rude to the haole mainland girl as I pulled up to a dark house. hmm. Through all my fantasizing of snide remarks I could have said back to my delightful co-workers, I had completely forgotten that Tuesday was our one month anniversary of being married. I know, I know! How could I, right? Well, my romantically inclined husband had driven to Kahuku, a nearby town/village/ghetto, and picked up dinner as well as a ridiculously delicious chocolate-coconut pie, lit a candle on the table and put a rose by our meal.
Ready now... on the count of three
one, two, three
Aawwhh!!
Now what can we learn from this ladies and gentleman? I should really start writing these things in my planner.
